WELL Workshop at NeoCon

Description

This 2-hour introductory workshop will introduce broad audiences to the WELL Building Standard. The organization and development of the WELL Building Standard is presented in the context of the healthy building movement. Key public health research is discussed to provide the basis for the seven WELL Concepts and some research on the value of WELL is discussed in conclusion. Attendees can also expect personal stories from both presenters, in addition to connecting the role and voice of the commercial design industry and WELL, as both serve as leading voices in shaping the built environment today and into the future.

WELL Faculty

The WELL AP Exam Prep Workshops will be led by leaders in human health and wellness in the built environment. This select group of ASID members bring a unique perspective and can clearly illustrate the role of the design community in implementing the WELL Building Standard®. The WELL Workshop will be led by Carina Clark, WELL AP, and Jessica Cooper, NCIDQ, LEED AP, WELL AP. 

Carina Clark

Carina Clark, WELL AP

Carina is an interior designer who is passionate about research, technology, and responsible design. Her graduate research focused on how sensory perception affects emotions, stress, and the execution of simple tasks, specifically within a healthcare environment. Her interest in sustainability and wellness design has allowed her to create, manage, and facilitate LEED Green Associate study groups as well as hold a position as a WELL Faculty in the Chicago area. Carina's interest is discovering ways to integrate all of her passions into the most successful projects.

Jessica Cooper

Jessica Cooper, NCIDQ, LEED AP, WELL AP

As Chief Commercial Officer at the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), Jessica oversees the end-to-end customer experience with WELL, helping project teams around the world enhance human health and wellness through the built environment. An avid public speaker, Jessica has also led many presentations and technical workshops to business and real-estate professionals in cities worldwide.

Before joining IWBI, Jessica served as executive vice president and director of Sustainability at Delos. In this role, Jessica led the Delos Solutions team and worked directly with clients to create environments that promote occupant health, happiness and well-being. Prior to Delos, Jessica worked as programs manager at Urban Green Council where she was responsible for developing and executing educational programs for the green building communities of New York City, Westchester, and Rockland. Jessica also has experience working as project manager at LB Architects where she managed a variety of interior design and construction projects for corporate, residential, and not-for-profit clients. During this time, she also gained experience serving as an interior designer, construction manager, and office sustainability coordinator.

Jessica is a WELL Faculty and one of the first WELL Accredited Professionals, having completed a provisional WELL training at the Cleveland Clinic in February 2015 and then achieving the formal certificate in October 2015. A LEED Accredited Professional since 2008, Jessica also holds a certificate in Green Professional Building Skills Training: Construction Management. Jessica is a licensed interior designer and holds an NCIDQ Certificate. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelors of Science in Design and Environmental Analysis.
